This week I really wanted to focus on winter wear. In this look, I wanted to show you how to wear a cape or a poncho in a really stylish way. And also give you a little bit of inside about why I love a classic cape or poncho for winter.
Reasons to wear a cape this winter
- A cape is an easy layer to wear: This style is so easy to put on and not only that when you are wearing it feels so comfy. If you are worried about the poofines you can always add a belt for an ultra chic and polish look.
- A cape is different compared to regular coats: If you are tired of wearing the same Winter jackets and coats, try something different like a cape or poncho. You will like it!
- A cape looks really stylish: Because a cape or poncho is a little bit on the relaxed fit make sure you wear something more fitted on the inside, this way you are contrasting the look and adding a more balanced shape to your look.
- A cape keeps you warm: There is no denying that a cape or poncho is a lot of fabric, so by nature, it’s going to keep you warm. Look for a cape with a hood if you want to protect yourself from rain or wind. Also pay attention to the fabric, because you can find all kinds of capes from really lightweight to heavyweight. The heavier the material, the warmer the cape is going to be.
About my look
The focus piece of this look was this classic plaid cape. I haded for years and still pretend to keep it. There are certain pieces in my closet that I don’t get rid off. I worked the entire outfit around the cape and as I said earlier to contrast this look I decided to create a more fitted base to balance the shape of the cape. I added a sleeveless turtleneck sweater, Leather skin-tight leggings, and my favorite thigh high boots. I accessorize with my favorite black square sunglasses, hoop earrings, and box vintage bag.
